Greg has been a major contributor to the New York City jazz scene and has toured extensively throughout North America, Europe and Asia since the 1980s. After more than two decades with John Coltrane drummer Rashied Ali, Greg Murphy has since been regularly touring and recording with both his owns groups (including 8 albums as a leader) as well as with other well-known
jazz artists. He is a diversely successful pianist who takes charge on keeping cool by prioritizing the fun of his unique sound. He now celebrates his new album Snap Happy having hit the #1 spot on the JazzWeek radio play charts, a feat he also accomplished with his 2019 release Bright Idea.
