International Jazz Day - April 30, 2016 |
|
April 30, 2016 is both "International Jazz Day" and the final day of "Jazz Appreciation Month" ("JAM").
International Jazz Day was organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization ("UNESCO") in 2011 "to highlight jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people in all corners of the globe."
JAM was created by the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History in 2002 to celebrate the extraordinary history of jazz for the entire month
of April. JAM is intended to stimulate and encourage people of all ages to participate in jazz - to study the music, attend concerts, listen to recorded jazz, read books about jazz, and more. |

Blue Truffle would like to acknowledge today's jazz artists for their contributions to the music world. Despite the contributions of these fine organizations to help the global jazz community, too many fine jazz artists remain in relative obscurity. For example, one must struggle to find information about the accomplishments of the late Paris-based American jazz artist Marc Thomas. According to a self-described "unconditional fan and brother of soul", Marc "had a special sensibility for rhythm and improvisation". In our opinion,
Marc deserves more recognition for his lifetime of musical achievements.
|
|
Blue Truffle would also like to acknowledge today's jazz fans, whose passion for great music and superior listening skills continue to motivate new generations of jazz artists. |
